Electric Tooth Brushes

Electric Toothbrush was developed in Scotland, in 1939 but it did not appear on the market unitl the 1960s, when it was marketed as the Broxodent in the US. General Electric (GE) introduced a new cordless rechargeable Electric Toothbrush that moved down and up when it is activated.

The first rotary action toothbrush appeared in the market for home use in 1987.

Currently there are many varieties of different model that use this electric mechanism. It is found from the research that they tend to be somewhat effective in preventing gingival and removing plaque bleeding than vibrating toothbrushes and manual toothbrushes.

Hi, I can remember that I had an electric toothbrush back when I was still in grade school. I agree that it was not really a big hit in the market, yet for me as a child then I really argued with my parents just to have one. They are wondering on why do I need to have an electric toothbrush if I already have a regular toothbrush with a Mickey mouse design. Then there I go to explain to them that the difference of the electric toothbrush is it's unique design, dental care benefits to remove more dirt to assure cleaner teeth.

I have used both a Sonicare and Oral-B and I really prefer the Oral-B. My dentist also suggested that it would work better for me because of the rotary brush and because the Sonicare is actually *too* fast. The vibration from the Sonicare would actually make it difficult to get some hard-to-reach spots well.
